At the recent Kscope16 Conference in Chicago, Illinois (June 26-30, 2016), Analysis Team co-presented at two sessions with clients Gap, Inc. and St. Jude Medical. Kscope is the annual conference organized by the Oracle Development Tools User Group (ODTUG) and is considered by Oracle customers and implementation consultants to be the premier event for keeping up to date with Oracle Essbase and the Hyperion EPM suite.

Doug Pearce, Principal Consultant with Analysis Team, together with Lisa Jones, Director of Financial Systems at St. Jude Medical, co-presented “Essbase Does It, but Dodeca Makes It Easy.” This session focused on how St. Jude Medical reinvented their worldwide planning solution by implementing Essbase with Applied OLAP’s Dodeca. The presentation highlighted use cases of how the number of input forms were reduced from 220 down to 30, and how Dodeca allowed the elimination of three out of four Essbase cubes as well as the overhead of associated data and master data synchronizations.

Bill Reddy, Analysis Team’s Director of the BI/EPM Practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, co-presented with George Cooper, BI Principal at Gap, Inc. a session titled “There and Back Again: An Epic Journey with Smart View API”. In this session, the presenters gave insights into how Gap, Inc. succeeded in automating complex business planning processes and data models supported by Oracle Essbase cubes with complex time realignments, multi-stage currency conversion and nearly a thousand metrics. The presentation outlined the many lessons Gap, Inc. has learned from converting Excel templates from the Oracle Essbase Spreadsheet Toolkit to the Smart View API.
