Analysis Team Co-Presents with Client Gap Inc. at COLLABORATE 18

At the recent COLLABORATE 18 Conference in Las Vegas (April 22-26, 2018), Analysis Team and client Gap Inc. co-presented an informative business case breakout session.  COLLABORATE is an annual Oracle technology and applications forum attended by customers, implementers and industry experts.  The conference is organized by Oracle user groups including OAUG, Quest International Users Group, and IOUG.

Dave Stark, President of Analysis Team, together with George Dooley, former Vice President/CFO of Supply Chain at Gap, discussed the business impact of an enterprise-level analytic solution used to understand and improve product margins across all of the fashion retailer’s brands including Gap, Gap Outlet, Banana Republic, and Old Navy. The solution built by Analysis Team, powered by integrated industry-leading database and analytic technologies, is used by brand presidents, merchandisers, supplier relationship managers, and other decision-makers to determine category investments, improve product mix, reduce product cost and optimize pricing.

The results have been significant for Gap, and the company has earned impressive financial returns. Within one year, improved product margins were measured in the range of a few hundred million dollars, flowing directly to the bottom line.  Over several years, the solution’s value was instrumental in driving Gap’s earnings per share (EPS) growth even though the company’s revenue remained flat.

The initiative shows how technology-enabled change can deliver game-changing results.  “The rapid advancements in technology capabilities are creating opportunities to radically impact business models,” said George. He added, “The ability to collect and process data, and execute increasingly complex algorithms in virtual real time is changing the game.”
